CASE STUDY - INTERIOR DESIGN
This project was developed to transform a compact two-bedroom apartment into a bright, functional space designed for everyday living as well as occasional guests.
By reworking the layout, we removed unused areas, significantly enlarged the bathroom, and created an open living space combining the kitchen, dining and living areas.
Location: Banská Bystrica
Project type: 2-bedroom privately owned apartment
Scope: Interior design concept
Service: Interior concept with 3D visualization
Goal: Improve layout, functionality and overall atmosphere
THE CHALLENGE
The original layout was inefficient — long corridors took up valuable space, making the main rooms feel smaller and more enclosed than necessary.
The owners wanted a home that would better support their everyday life while also accommodating occasional visits from family.
Key requirements included:
-
a larger bathroom with both a bathtub and a walk-in shower
-
space for a washing machine (ideally with a dryer)
-
a proper guest sleeping solution for their daughter and her partner
-
more storage
-
a more open and airy living area
-
a small library and reading corner
The challenge was to rethink the layout in a way that would significantly improve how the apartment functions — without unnecessary compromises.
Before renovation

THE STRATEGY
The key to the project was a complete layout redesign.
Instead of working around the existing structure, the proposal focused on removing inefficient circulation and creating better connections between spaces.
Every square meter was designed with intention:
-
more usable space for everyday living
-
clearer and more logical zoning
-
better integration of storage
At the same time, the design balances functionality with aesthetics — creating a space that not only works well, but also feels calm, natural and cohesive.
INTERIOR VISUALIZATION (concept)
To help visualize the full potential of the space, a 3D concept was developed showing the future interior after renovation.
The design follows a soft botanical aesthetic:
-
natural materials and textures
-
a palette of muted greens, beige and white
-
wood and subtle marble accents
Plants and botanical elements play a key role:
-
a large-scale botanical wall in the living room
-
green kitchen cabinetry
-
a feature wall with climbing plants
The visualization helps communicate not just the look of the space, but also its atmosphere and everyday usability.

LAYOUT & DESIGN SOLUTIONS
The redesigned layout completely transformed how the apartment works.
✔ open-plan living space with kitchen, dining and living area
✔ spacious L-shaped kitchen designed for daily use
✔ a built-in “breakfast cabinet” concealing small appliances
✔ significantly enlarged bathroom with bathtub, walk-in shower and washer-dryer
✔ full-size fold-down bed integrated into custom storage for guests
✔ built-in library and reading corner
The result is a clean, well-organized and highly functional space without wasted areas.

THE RESULT
The apartment was transformed from a compact and fragmented layout into an open, functional and comfortable home.
It now:
-
feels larger and more spacious
-
offers significantly more storage
-
supports everyday living with ease
-
accommodates guests without compromise
Every element has a clear purpose — resulting in a space that works both visually and practically.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
This project highlights how impactful a well-designed layout can be.
It’s not always about making a space bigger — often it’s about using it better.
A thoughtful design can:
-
eliminate wasted space
-
improve how a home functions
-
increase overall comfort without unnecessary interventions
WHY THIS APPROACH WORKS
This type of project is especially effective for:
-
smaller apartments with inefficient layouts
-
spaces where functionality needs to be improved without increasing size
-
renovations where layout changes have a bigger impact than decoration
-
clients who want a home that works in real life — not just visually
A clear concept helps clients make better decisions before construction begins.
